Thinking of You | Alketa Xhafa Mripa | TEDxAUK

In her TEDxAUK speech, Ms. Xhafa – Mripa will talk about her “splendid” idea to remember women who were victims of sexual abuse during the last war in Kosovo. Ms. Xhafa – Mripa managed to create a unique exhibition, which she is going to explain in detail during this talk.

Alketa Xhafa Mripa is a Kosovo-born artist and British national, who became famous with her exhibition
“Thinking of You” which transformed the football pitch in Prishtina into a giant art installation, with thousands
of dresses hung on washing lines in a powerful and poignant tribute to survivors of sexual violence. Xhafa-Mripa
chose the dress or skirt to symbolize fragility and purity, and by hanging out 5,000 dresses on washing lines,
she has given a new spin to a familiar expression.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
